Hex Nuts
Hex nuts are available in a range of steel and other materials. Hex nut nominal thread diameter is referred to as hex nut size. The sizes tend to vary from 1/4" to about 2 1/2", but we will accommodate any special requirements you may request. Grade 2 is the least expensive and carries the lowest strength; Grade 5 has a medium strength; Grade 8 is the highest SAE grade and typically has the highest price. Never replace a graded hex nut with a lower-grade or weaker nut, and always ensure that the surface markings of the nut represent the grade.
Flange Nuts
The outermost portion of the nuts is flared outward to create a flange. The surface of the flange commonly features serrations facing the bolt. The stainless steel serrated flange nuts serve as washers and tighten the nuts to the bolt, bolt hole, and retaining surface at the same time. These 12-point flange nuts are frequently used in situations that call for flange nuts with strong tensile and yield characteristics. They are resilient to strong stresses and twisting forces. Applications include manifolds and exhausts. The Exhaust Manifold Flange Nuts may function in conditions of high pressure and temperature. Power generating, oil and gas, heat exchangers, and other industries employ 12-point high-strength flange nuts for high-temperature and high-pressure service.
Nylon Insert Locknuts
Threaded hex nuts with nylon insert collars that prevent turning are called nylon insert lock nuts (sometimes referred to as nylocks). The nut is finished with the plastic nylon. The nylon nut can be reused because when it is tightened, the nylon section locks into the threads of the screws without being cut. The nylon insert lock nut is available from us in a wide range of sizes and compositions. We provide them in inch sizes in the following patterns: NE and NM (standard pattern), NTE and NTM (thin pattern), NTU (thin heavy pattern), and NU (heavy pattern). We offer ISO 7040 and Din 985 in metric.
